Third Party choices available                      in the Scottish Borders and Edinburgh.

a.  Grave Purchase - Graves are available to purchase anywhere within the Scottish Borders depending whether there is space available in the cemetery     of your choice. You purchase the right of burial in a particular grave/s although Scottish Borders Council owns the graves and cemetery outright.                (Refer to Information & Prices).

b.  Interment in Existing Grave - You need to prove that you are the Lairholder (Owner of the grave) or have permission of the Lairholder for the burial to proceed.  Ideally, you will have the 'Title Deed Certificate' at hand.  This is the certificate of rights of burial in that particular grave.

c.  Woodland Burial - There are two choices locally.

1.  Hundy Mundy (Between Kelso and Gordon).

2. Shawfield, Selkirk (Operated by Scottish Borders Council).

Both offer natural woodland burial with fantastic views over the countryside.

d.  Cremation - Borders Crematorium, Melrose at the foot of the eildon hills offers first class facilities and comfort seating 100.   The crematorium has organists that can be provided for each service, Wesley Music download offering excellent choice from classical to popular music to suit every family, DVD Service Recording, Web Casting and recorded video of the service.

Also you have the choice of purchasing a tree or memorial and have your loved one's ashes interred or scattered at the foot of the eildon hills.

Edinburgh Cremation - We also offer the option of a service at Mortonhall, Seafield or Warriston Crematorium which is in easy reach..

e. Religious Service - You may be a member of a local church congregation -

if not, we can help you find the appropriate religous minister to lead the service. If you require a service in church, we offer the hearse and bearers for the duration of the service at no extra cost.

in the borders.

j.  Funeral Catering - We can arrange the catering requirements according to your wishes.  Catering may be held at the hotel, village hall or at the family home.  We have a list of the local hotels and outside catering providers.

k.  Medical Certificates  (when applicable).

The doctor/s issue the two required statutary forms where the death took place in England and cremation is the chosen option.

l.  Memorials / Headstones - We don't take this service on ourselves but we can give you memorial brochures on request.

m.  Grave Markers - We provide a selection of Brass Grave Markers.

You have choice to compose the wording or even a poem.

These offer a good solution for a simple but dignifed memorial or

until the headstone is put in place.

n.  Piper - If you require a piper at the graveside, we can point you in the right direction.  The bagpipes are more suitable at the graveside rather that at the crematorium or church as the sound interferes with other musical instriments and mourners.
